I like big butts and I cannot lie

Zach has a big butt — but that’s because Jamer and I started cloth diapers last week.

So far, it’s been a pretty easy process. We had a few issues with leaking, but that’s mostly our fault for various reasons — like that you’re supposed to wash them 3-5 times before using them to get the "natural plant oils" out of them; or that the entire cloth diaper needs to be under the cover or it will wick out onto his clothes; or that he needs to be changed way more often.

The biggest problem we’ve had so far is night time. He would go to sleep and wake up soaked all the way through to the sheets.

This morning I woke up at 4:45 a.m., got another outfit and diaper ready and mentally prepared myself for a dripping baby. To my surprise, he was dry. The diaper wasn’t, but he was. Happy day!

Now I’m reading about cloth diapers and the increased risk of diaper rash. Ugh, it’s a learning process, but then again so were disposable diapers. We’ll just have to be careful about it and continue remembering just how much money this whole ordeal is saving us!

Hang in there, I have been in the cloth diaper business for 3 years now. Remember to help with the diaper rashes wash the diapers vinager, it will keep the PH levels down, and also use baby powder. It will help keep him dry and help keep the rashes away. Good luck!
