I heart Ernie

Zach is becoming a standing expert. He's started cruising with more ease. We even have a walk behind lion (thanks Gamma!) that he likes a lot. We have to keep it from moving forward too quickly, but still. I have a feeling he'll be walking in no time.

I'm still having a very hard time catching Zach's new noise on camera. Every time he does it, I start to tape and he gets distracted by the camera! To make up for it, we'll post this hilarious video instead.



My mom and I went to a baby consignment sale last weekend and I picked up this awesome Ernie toy. Zach was scared of it at first, but now it's his favorite thing ever. Too bad it take SIX batteries!

Learning new "tricks"

Just when I thought he couldn't grow up any faster, Zach seems to learn a new skill (or, as his daddy says, "trick") every day.

Zach has now mastered the skill of pulling himself to standing and has even started "cruising" along the furniture.



Last week Uncle Paul came to visit. We went on a long walk to the library and then played with the new bus Zachers got from Craig and Jennie Keepers! He loves to watch it. When the bus stops, Zach looks at us and laughs. As you'll notice in the video, he also loves to chew on the bus driver. :)

He's baaaaack.

It's the return of monster baby!

NINE MONTHS?!?!

Zach is officially 9 months old. Man, time flies.

The day we left for Aberdeen, Zach went in for his 9 month doctor's appointment. Here's his stats!

Weight: 21 pounds, 8 ounces (68th percentile)
Height: 28 inches (44th percentile)
Head: 18.74 inches (96th percentile)

My suspicion was correct. All this exercising of bouncing, rocking and crawling has caused Zach to even out a little bit. He apparently still has an enormous head, though. :)

At this age, the doctor's office says Zach might:

• Sit well -CHECK
• Crawl or creep - CHECK
• Pull self up to stand - CHECK
• Use fingers to feed - CHECK
• Imitate sounds and babble (dada, mama, bababa) - CHECK
• Respond when his name or a familiar object is called - CHECK
• Understand a few word such as "no-no" or "bye" (or in Zach's case, "Annie") - CHECK
• Start to understand that an object hidden by a cloth is still there - CHECK
