"Would you please roll over so I can spend some time with my son?"

Baby is now the length of an ear of corn.

Oh no you d'int.

Yesterday I was lying on my side with my back to Jamer, when he reached around me and tried to roll me over. I wasn't having it. He then said "Would you please roll over so I can spend some time with my son?"

Now I know what queens must've felt like back in the day. Just be glad it's a boy, otherwise... OFF WITH HER HEAD!

117 days left...

 10 weeks vs. 22 weeks

Because I’ve been living this pregnancy, I really haven’t noticed how large I’ve gotten. Sure, I’ve noticed that my clothes no longer fit and I realize that it’s a lot larger than normal, but I don’t remember how it got this way.

I didn’t wake up one day and say, hey. My tummy is getting big.

I’ve been taking weekly photos of myself as a way to show the baby’s progress and it’s just amazing to compare the most recent to my first photo of 10 weeks. I can’t believe how skinny I looked back then (and I always thought I could stand to lose 15 pounds)...

This week my coworkers have really started commenting on my belly. It's getting harder and harder to hide.
"Look at you and your cute belly!"
"Oh wow! You're really starting to show now!"

It's as if they thought I was making this baby thing up... :)

Earlier this week my doctor told me we need to sign up for our birthing classes soon - we're supposed to complete that between 25 and 36 weeks. I can't believe it's that time already.

Just dance - 23 weeks!

At 23 weeks, Baby Grumish is now the size of a large mango.

"Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance..."

I think baby has been able to feel that already and I'm pretty sure he's dancing on his own in there. I've decided this little guy will either be a gymnast or a ninja. He sure is active. I've been joking with Jamer for the last week because I'm pretty sure he's trying to kick my belly button out.

Jamer was finally able to feel him kicking the other day. He was frozen with his hand on my belly when the baby kicked.

"I think I felt something."

You sure did, Mister. Welcome to my life. That's the baby trying to fight his way out.

In other news: Laura, one of the other reporters here, is doing a story on a miracle baby. She was born at 23 weeks - where I am now. Laura said she spent 104 days in the hospital before coming home. She was so tiny that her mom's wedding ring could fit around her thigh. That's one tiny baby. As much as it would be nice to be done with the pregnancy now (easiest pregnancy ever), I'd much rather have a happy, healthy ninja when this is all said and done.

Photo update

Sunday, Feb. 7, 21 weeks!

Super excited to be getting closer to June! Baby is moving like crazy now, although Jamer still can't feel it. Now, I can clearly feel kicks and jabs during the day while at my computer. It's pretty distracting to say the least!

I bought a baby book last weekend to start documenting some of the events happening before little baby Grumish is born. It's been pretty fun to add pictures. One space is to write a letter to the baby - that's something that will be really hard, I think. When I turned 18, my dad gave me a letter he had written to me the day I was born. It was pretty special and something I'd love to do for our child too... I just don't know if I'll be emotionally stable enough to do it!

In other news, I have some of the best friends. Katie Maddaus, my cousin, and Sara Salas, my BFF, have both offered to throw me baby showers. Katie's will be a family deal and Sara's will be my besties. Details to come later, but I wanted to give them a shout out because I think they're the best!

Daddy loves you too

Baby is the size of a spaghetti squash (about 11 inches and almost 1 pound)

This week Jamer has been the most excited I've seen him about the baby. Every once in a while he'll rub my stomach or just lay his hand on my tummy while I'm laying down watching TV.

My two favorite stories from the week are as follows:

1. After registering for the essentials at Target, we hit the toy section. Jamer ran to the sports section and immediately registered for a soccer ball. He had quite a dilemma trying to figure out if he should register for the classic soccer ball or the ball with blue swooshes. After some time he decided to go with the classic. A few days later, we were at Target and he went to the counter and got a scanner. After telling him I didn't realize we were going to work on more registry stuff, he said he had changed his mind about the soccer ball - he now wanted the one with blue swooshes.

2. The baby was kicking pretty hard a few days ago so I called Jamer over to try to feel it. He got a little excited.

Jamer in an anxious tone: "Can you mute the TV?"
Me (laughing): "You can't feel my stomach with the TV on?"
At this point Annie (our golden retriever) is really worked up and runs over with a toy to play.
Jamer to Annie: "Shhhh!!"

By that time I was laughing so hard that there was no way for him to feel the baby kick. He'll just have to wait for another day. It is good to see him getting excited about it, though.

Another reason to hate the dentist

 Inspiration for our jungle-themed nursery

I blame the dentist for how I feel in the morning. More specifically, I blame him for the relationship I've formed with my toilet. (Thanks a lot Dr. Foster!)

Last time I went to the dentist, I was informed that I'm not brushing my back teeth enough. You know why?! If I push that thing too far back, my gag reflex kicks in. You know what happens after that? Exactly. It ain't pretty.

Last week I learned a fun trick. Well, maybe fun isn't the right word, but I was amused. When I felt sick (after brushing my teeth) I drank a ton of cold water. It didn't help, but the cool water made it interesting coming back up. It was almost soothing.

TMI (too much information), I know. Sorry.

Dang it. I thought I was in the fifth month? I'm not supposed to be hanging out with the toilet anymore...

In other news, I've picked out a name - I now have 4 months to convince Jamer that he likes it too. :)

Everybody was kung fu fighting

20 weeks - Thanks for the cute shirt, Amy!!

A few days ago, while laying in bed and watching TV, I felt my stomach twitch. It felt like a muscle twitch, but was really low - about 2-3 fingers below my belly button. After freezing and having to remember to breathe, I felt it again. I felt three little twitches before it stopped.

The next day the same thing happened -- then again the day after that. Now, as I sit and type this post, I'm twitching again -- only I'm pretty sure it's not twitching... could this be baby?!

Today's weekly update (week 21!) said it might feel like baby is practicing martial arts in there. It's true. This is the first time I've been able to feel him move during the day. Sara, my BFF, says he might be a mini ninja.

I didn't know what to expect when baby started kicking, but I figured I'd at least be able to recognize when it was baby. This is all so new and nothing like I expected it to be... but I'm still REALLY excited about it. I can't wait until Jamer will be able to feel this too.
